by Also this year the fundraising campaign of the Janusz- Korczak- School for the sponsored children in the project Siyaboga was again a great success! The pupils collected the impressive amount of more than 2000 €! Since 2019 the school has taken over the sponsorship for two children from KwaZulu- Natal on the east coast of South Africa and supports them monthly with a fixed amount of money. The conditions under Corona are extremely difficult. The local staff tries with all available means and possibilities to offer the children of the institution a daily meal and educational assistance.
The support of the Siyabonga students is an outstanding example how our school as a whole can get involved for other people. Actions like these bring our school community even closer together.
The pupils from the Laggenbecker Strasse location organized a sponsored run for the second time on Friday, 02.10.2020 at the Sports Center East. Due to the Corona Pandemic, the offer of meals for physical well-being had to be abandoned. Teachers, parents and caretakers cheered the children on. The children showed great dedication and motivation to raise as much money as possible for their sponsored child. The majority of the students managed a running time of 60 minutes and were thus able to acquire a running badge in gold “on the side”!
At the location of the secondary school I in Uffeln, the classes have created individual possibilities to receive donations for the sponsored child. For example, cookies were baked and sold, students worked for one day in companies or private institutions and donated the wages for their work.
The proceeds of this great project day went into the account of the sponsoring association to support the monthly contributions. Furthermore, our sponsored children have their birthday in November and will receive a nice present! In December is Christmas and the summer vacations for Phumlani and Xsoliswa will start! Especially during this time, support through special payments is a good way to help the organization with the distribution of food, among other things!
